Ok so a lot has changed since the last time i was on here. Hahaha I kind of decided to go on a blogging vacation for the past year in a half. The only person I can remember that had a blog was Dion Agius at the time I started this thang and then all of a sudden like a flash flood every aspiring pro surfer traded in their sponsor me resumes for blogs, so I got burnt out.
This has now evolved into my diarre, seeing as no one cares enough about what a normal person does.
Not to keep you wondering any longer ill give you all the hot juicy details of what I have been up to.>First off the biggest and badest and shall I say sweatest news is I got Married to the woman of my dreams!!!! Yep thats right shes the radest and coolest and turns out shes the meanest in the kitchen!
Her name is Raquel. Other than that I took all my painting and drawings and started designing t shirts for a few different brands. Vonzipper, Katin, and Ergo. I also got a sort of real job, I am a sales men.... I work for Ergo and Vox footwear. San Diego and Orange County are my territory and I work every freaking day! Its Crazy! Turns out Im alright at it. I just go around making friends and showing them sweet stuff and seeing if they would like to keep the lights on at my house or not. I have made a lot of friends in the past 8 months repping. I also moved to La Jolla which by the way is the radest place ever and reminds me of Californias version of Hawaii. I live right next to wind and sea and have been trying to make friends with the locals. It might be a lil more challenging seeing that I drive a 9 foot tall bus that looks like it was dipped in tie die and says Ergo real big all over it. Other than that Happy 4th of July Im drinking a delicious Modelo Especial with a lime in it and It delicious. Ps Im thinking about making a lil tiny brand. SHHHHH don't tell anyone I just want to have fun and make stuff, maybe some one will buy something.

Rodger Eales, Aaron Schall, James Kingdren, and I went down south and got some sic ones. It was my first time to this particular break. I didn't really know where to sit or what to look for, so I wasn't to surprised when the first set of waves broke on my head. I felt like I had prepaid to play. After getting dragged through to the in side I paddled back out and got some really fun waves. Wooooo Thanks Ken for letting me borrow your 9.2 Cole! Thing was sic!

About midwinter of this past year, I decided that I wanted to go on a really long surf trip for the entire summer. Since I had already been to Costa Rica, Mexico, and Nicaragua, Central America was my first thought. I thought that driving from California all the way to Panama would be the trip of a lifetime. My good buddy James and I started planning and saving for the trip. Since we are in a recession and our economy hasn't been doing so good this became harder than we thought. We set a date to leave at the end of May, but as May was approaching quickly, things seemed to be more of a forced effort than anything else. Two weeks prior to our leave date I was on my way to an art show in Pacific Beach when a car in the other lane ran me off the road into another car. The woman who I hit had been drinking, and, consequently, she got a DUI. I felt really bad that not only was she the one who had been hit, but now she was on her way to jail. Besides that, now my Toyota Tacoma was barely drivable. This, along with the news of swine flu spreading very rapidly through Mexico and other close by countries, had brought our trip to a screeching halt. I didn't really understand why this weird series of events started happening, but I saw it as a sign to switch up the plan.

About a week later my buddy Rick Downes called me and asked me if I wanted to go to Panama on an eight day trip which really had been the plan all along. So in one week’s time we were on a plane. When we arrived at the tropical paradise we had some difficulty renting a car since none of us had brought a credit card. Instead, we took a taxi the entire seven hour drive down winding, surprisingly smooth roads to a spot named Santa Catalina. We got into the small town late that night, but soon found a place to stay. We awoke the next morning before the sun had even come up to the sound of Mangos smashing into the thin aluminum roof that lay above us. As the sun came up and we started walking around and exploring we found that everything in Santa Catalina is relatively close so not having to rent a car worked out in our favor. The main wave in Catalina is a reef that peels right and has a softer left. It reminds me of a more powerful lowers with no left. The locals advise against surfing it on low tide because the wave gets real drainy and is pretty sketchy to surf. There are also a handful of other really good waves nearby. A couple of the days we took a two in a half hour boat ride north to this really sick below sea level slab and caught it really fun. Later that same day, a few of the locals heard about us surfing the wave and they told us to “forget the name of it". So we did. We also forgot how to get there.

The tide in Panama is very extreme. The difference between low tide and high tide is about ten feet. Low tide exposes about a hundred feet of beach and the beach is covered in lava rocks, thus making it very difficult to surf some of the waves on a low tide. The first couple of nights we switched up hotels and ended up moving a total of three times. Whether it was the heat, the bugs, being a far walk from the breaks, etc… The last straw was when the photographer, Joe Foster, got stung in the back by a gigantic wasp while he was in front of our hotel room. Joe almost kicked the door down as he rushed into the room screaming and trying to get one of us to knock the hornet’s stinger loose from his back. We were all very confused, thinking that Joe was playing another prank on us. So no one made any sudden movement to try and help Joe. Afterwards he said, “I will never forgive you for not helping me sooner," and also added, “It’s like we were living in Jurassic Park!" It was probably one of the more funny moments of the trip. Five minutes later another wasp landed on his pillow. He refused to stay any longer so we split.

When we did our research on the places to stay prior to the trip we heard a lot of bad things about this hotel called Punta Brava. So we were hesitant to stay there until we ran into a group of surfers. They were staying there and they only had nice things to say about the food, a/c, and the price. We later found out that all the rumors and chitter chatter were from local hotels competing for guest. Punta Brava was actually the closest hotel to the main wave. It had a/c, internet access, and a chef that could throw together some insane meals, and it was actually cheaper than the other hotels. We called this home for the rest of our stay.

We alternated our time by surfing and taking boat rides to nearby islands, Santa Catalina, and a close by beach break. Palm trees grow everywhere in Panama, as well as mango trees, so finding between session snacks was actually very convenient, especially if you had a machete. Since the swell had peaked in the middle of our eight day excursion and was slowly fading, we decided to check out the night life in Panama City. We had met some local Panamanians at Punta Brava and they told us they would be more than happy to let us stay at their place. So we hitched a ride with the owner of the hotel down a really long road over the Panama Canal to finally arrive in Panama City. At first, to me it just looked like all the other big cities in other Central American countries. The only thing different that I noticed was there were a lot more beautiful girls running around. We later found out from our Panamanian friends that most of the girls were from Columbia and were actually prostitutes that were there sending money back.

I went by Cole Surfboards the other day just to stop in and say whats up and ended up satying till close painting trucker hats with Robo and Cole. They made some pretty mean stencil ones. I also painted my new board before it got glassed and it was actually the first one Ive ever painted before it was glassed. I will post some pics on Fri of the board.
